Identity - UI Design
Stanford University recently developed a new community in Palo Alto, CA, called University Terrace, which provides housing for their staff. They needed to create an identity that was unique, but still carried the prestige of Stanford University. I had the privilege of creating the logo for University Terrace, inspired by the organic shapes and varying levels of terraces, which is the theme I carried throughout their website, print assets, and informational exhibit.
I set University Terrace’s website apart from other real-estate websites by paying extra attention to what users wanted to interact with the most – images of the homes and the floor plans. I created a design that showcases the beautiful interior and exterior spaces of the community, balanced with the detailed specs every future home buyer needs to know.
Simplifying the User Experience
One of the biggest challenges for the University Terrace website was the Interactive Map. In a single view, the user needed the ability to navigate through all available single family homes and condominiums, different community amenities, Palo Alto’s points of interest, and the community’s construction phases. Along with the UX Designer, we simplified the experience through use of color, iconography, and tab-style navigation.
